Welcome to NewsCloud and thanks for volunteering to be a spotlight contributor. For the next five weekdays, you'll post a story to NewsCloud and you and your selection will be featured on our cover page.
NewsCloud is an open source social network for news. The source code behind our media platform is available free to the worldwide community. You can find more about us via the NewsCloud Mission Statement.
The goal of NewsCloud's spotlight contributor program is to bring new voices into our community, foster discussion and promote your site and our site to each other's communities.

Getting Started
If you are already a NewsCloud member, please email Jeff your email address and/or member name. If you are not yet a member, you can either:
1) Register yourself
- Sign up at NewsCloud directly.
- Click the confirmation link that arrives in your email
- Enter your bio and upload a photo
2) Ask Jeff to register you
- Email Jeff your preferred email address, member name, short bio (3 to 5 sentences) and a small photo of yourself (or a URL pointing to one on the Internet).
- He'll register you and send you a sign in link
Note: You won't be able to access the NewsCloud Spotlight Member page until you've given Jeff your account information.
Posting Stories
You can post stories from anywhere on the Web even your own blog. We recommend that you use the Save to NewsCloud button. Once you drag it to your browser bar, you can post a story while browsing any news Web site or blog. Alternately, you can visit our Post a Story page directly and type in the details manually.
- To get the Save to NewsCloud button, drag it from the NewsCloud Spotlight Member page or the Learn More page.
When posting, include a question or comment in the caption that will provoke discussion from our community.
At the bottom of the Post a Story page, you'll see a checkbox which will allow you to designate any individual post as the current spotlight feature. There is often a 7 to 10 minute delay before your story will appear.
Designating Your Featured Story
Visit the NewsCloud Spotlight Member page. Select the story you want to promote to the cover page and click Update. There is often a 7 to 10 minute delay before your story will appear.

Continuing the Discussion
Please check back regularly to view comments that other NewsCloud members are posting and please post your own thoughts, keep the discussion going.
Spread the Word
Please email your friends and post on your own blog that your our featured member this week. This will help introduce NewsCloud to new people and new communities.
